RPI(A) Delegation Presents Demands to Maharashtra Chief Minister
RPI(A) Requests Seats from Maharashtra CM
On Wednesday, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale announced that a delegation from the Republican Party of India (Athawale) (RPI(A)) has submitted a list of demands to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The delegation is seeking at least 5-6 seats from a total of 17 specified in their request. Athawale mentioned that the RPI(A) representatives met with Fadnavis to address their grievances, presenting the list of seats they wish to secure.
Athawale further elaborated that their demands include a request for one seat in the Legislative Council (MLC). Additionally, the RPI(A) is asking for two chairperson positions in the Maharashtra state corporations when appointments are made. They are also seeking 50-60 members for the upcoming district council and panchayat elections, with a few seats allocated in each district. He noted that discussions with Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena took considerable time, which delayed talks with the RPI(A). They have formally submitted their list of demands and requested an MLC seat.
He stated that upon appointments in Maharashtra's state corporations, they expect to receive two chairperson roles, one or two vice-chairperson positions, and 50-60 members, along with specific seats in each district for the upcoming elections. Athawale added, “We presented our letter of demands, and they assured us that RPI(A) would be given due consideration after the elections... I am also planning to meet Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde... Today's meeting was productive...”
Earlier, Athawale indicated that the RPI(A) had submitted a proposal to Chief Minister Fadnavis, emphasizing that candidates have been fielded in 39 locations and that a meeting is necessary if the Chief Minister requests any candidate to withdraw.
