Rotary Club of Palampur Sends Relief Supplies to Flood-Affected Thunag

In a remarkable act of community service, the Rotary Club of Palampur has sent a significant shipment of relief supplies to the Thunag area in Mandi district, which has been severely impacted by recent floods and landslides.
The relief convoy was officially launched at noon from Rotary Bhawan in Palampur, attended by notable figures such as former Chief Minister Mr. Shanta Kumar, former Assembly Speaker Mr. Brij Bihari Lal Butail, SDM Nayantra Maitri, DSP Lokendra Negi, Tehsildar Sajan Bagga, along with Rotary Club members.
The total value of the relief materials is around ₹4 lakh and includes:
- 504 blankets
- 270 tents
- 100 pairs of shoes
- Clothing for approximately 1,500 individuals
- Essential cooking utensils
Members of the Rotary Club, including Rtn. Ajay Sood, Rtn. Kapil Sood, Rtn. Rishi Sangray, and Rtn. Gopal Sood, will personally deliver these supplies to the local authorities in Thunag, ensuring that the aid reaches the families in need promptly.
Former Chief Minister Mr. Shanta Kumar commended the initiative, stating, “Serving humanity is the highest form of religion, and Rotary exemplifies this through its actions inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. This mission reflects our spiritual and civic duties.”
Mr. Brij Bihari Lal Butail echoed this sentiment, highlighting Rotary's consistent role in disaster relief efforts, describing the club as “a steadfast presence during crises, whether from floods, earthquakes, or pandemics.”
Rotary Club President Rtn. Ajay Sood and Secretary Rtn. Raghav Sharma reaffirmed their commitment to providing assistance in future emergencies as well.
Also in attendance were several prominent Rotarians, including Rtn. Kapil Sood (District 3070 Disaster Management Chairman), Rtn. Rajit Chitra (Club Disaster Management Chair), along with many dedicated club members.
