Celebrating Educational Excellence


On Sunday, the Rotary Club Chhoti Kashi Mandi recognized eight dedicated teachers from government schools with the prestigious Nation Builder Awards, honoring their significant contributions to education, student welfare, and community service.


The recipients included Sushil Kumar, TGT Medical at GSSS Shivabadar; Nisha Thakur, Hindi Lecturer at GSSS Barot; Darshan Lal, Computer Science Lecturer at GSSS Saigaloo; Harshana Behl, Hindi Lecturer at GSSS Katindhi; Sushma Kumari, TGT Arts at Government High School Ratti; Suresh Kumar, Chemistry Lecturer at GSSS Shivabadar; Suneeta, English Lecturer at GSSS Tandoo; and Jyoti, TGT Mathematics at Government BSL Senior Secondary School, BBMB Colony, Sundernagar. These educators were celebrated for their extensive service, innovative teaching strategies, and contributions that extend beyond the classroom.


During the event, Rotary Club Chhoti Kashi Mandi President Rtn. Akhilesh Bharti emphasized the core values of service that underpin Rotary's mission. Rtn. Munish Sood provided insights into Rotary's structure and its dedication to community service.


Rtn. Dr. Anupama Singh spoke about the importance of the Nation Builder Awards, highlighting the crucial role teachers play in shaping not just students but entire generations. She pointed out that a teacher's influence transcends academics, fostering confidence, values, discipline, compassion, and the courage to chase dreams.


The awardees showcased various facets of the teaching profession. Sushil Kumar was recognized for his innovative, activity-based learning and contributions to teacher training. Nisha Thakur was commended for her online Hindi classes during the pandemic and her support for students facing financial challenges.


Darshan Lal received accolades for promoting digital literacy and assisting students in securing scholarships, while Harshana Behl was honored for her 25 years of dedicated service in education. Sushma Kumari, with 24 years of experience, was acknowledged for her efforts in increasing student enrollment and mentoring fellow teachers.


Suresh Kumar was recognized for his long-standing teaching career and consistent academic performance, focusing on practical learning and co-curricular activities. Suneeta was celebrated for her two decades as an English teacher, and Jyoti was acknowledged for her creative approach to teaching Mathematics and her active participation in school events.


The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Suman Sharma, Renu Gulati, Amar Ahuja, Anuradha Sood, Jaipal Singh, Prabodh Anand, Seema Sharma, and Dharmender Rana, along with Rotary Club members.


After the awards presentation, the Rotary Club Chhoti Kashi Mandi celebrated its anniversary with a cake-cutting ceremony, reflecting on its journey and ongoing commitment to community service.


The event concluded with a high tea, allowing members, guests, and award-winning teachers to mingle and celebrate the occasion.
