Rohit Sharma's Call for Responsibility

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India's ODI cricket team, has taken to social media to deliver a vital message during the ongoing Operation Sindoor, urging the public to act responsibly and to be wary of misinformation.

In a tweet shared on Friday, he commended the bravery and composure of the Indian Armed Forces amidst escalating military tensions with Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of being vigilant about the information that individuals consume and disseminate online.

“With every passing moment, with every decision taken I feel extremely proud of our Indian Army, Indian Airforce & Indian Navy. Our warriors are standing tall for our nation’s pride. It’s important for every Indian to be responsible and refrain from spreading or believing any fake news. Stay safe, everyone!

This tweet comes at a time when the situation at the border is particularly tense.

In response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, India has conducted targeted strikes. On May 8, Indian forces shot down Pakistani drones in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, leading to a blackout along the western border.

The ongoing tensions have also affected cricket, as the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, scheduled for Dharamsala, was unexpectedly canceled.

While the BCCI cited a power outage and issues with floodlights at the HPCA Stadium, security concerns were also a significant factor. Additionally, the upcoming match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, originally planned for Dharamsala, has been relocated to Ahmedabad.

Reactions from IPL Players Amidst the Crisis

Rohit Sharma's statement marks one of the first public responses from a prominent Indian cricketer during this crisis. Reports indicate that several international players are in discussions with their respective boards regarding security measures.

Currently, the Lucknow Super Giants are scheduled to play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow on May 9, and as of now, the match is still set to proceed without any official announcements regarding postponement or relocation.
