Rohit Sharma Returns to MI

Rohit Sharma, the former captain of India and the Mumbai Indians (MI), has officially rejoined the squad of the five-time IPL champions in preparation for the 2026 season.

Sharma's Legacy with Mumbai Indians

With six IPL titles to his name—one with Deccan Chargers and five as MI's captain—Sharma stands as one of the most successful leaders in the tournament's history.

He became part of the Mumbai franchise in 2011 and took over as captain in 2013, leading MI to their first IPL title in his inaugural season as captain. After an impressive 11-year tenure, he was succeeded by Hardik Pandya for the 2024 season.

Rohit is MI's all-time leading run-scorer and is among the select few players to have amassed over 6000 runs in the IPL.

His standout season was in 2013, where he scored 538 runs, contributing significantly to MI's title victory. In 2015, he was named Player of the Final when MI triumphed over Chennai Super Kings for their second title. Under his leadership, MI also secured victories in 2017, 2019, and 2020.

Pre-Season Training Kicks Off

On Monday, MI officially began their pre-season training, marking the start of preparations for the upcoming 2026 campaign. The session was led by head coach Mahela Jayawardene, alongside bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, as well as the complete strength and conditioning and physiotherapy teams.
