India's Cricketing Dominance

Rohit Sharma, the former captain of Team India and a four-time ICC title winner, has praised the recent achievements of Indian cricket in both men's and women's formats. The Men in Blue, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, clinched the T20 World Cup title with a commanding 96-run victory against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.

This victory marks Team India's sixth title in just two years, showcasing the strength and consistency of Indian cricket. The team has previously secured the T20 World Cup 2024, the 19 Women's World Cup 2025, the Champions Trophy 2025, the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, and the U19 Men's World Cup 2026, establishing a remarkable era of success across various formats and age groups.

Once struggling to maintain consistency in ICC tournaments, the team has now emerged as a formidable force globally, thanks to a mix of seasoned players and emerging talent that fuels India's cricketing success.

Hard Work Behind Success

At the launch of the T20 Mumbai League Season 4 in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma highlighted that the success of Team India on the international stage is attributed to relentless effort, both on and off the field, rather than mere luck.

"There’s no secret to success; it’s all about hard work. Both men's and women's international cricketers put in tremendous effort to achieve their goals," remarked the former captain.

He acknowledged that while players shine on the field, numerous individuals behind the scenes contribute significantly to this success, stating, "Many people deserve credit for this achievement."

Rohit's Legacy and Future Goals

Rohit Sharma has been part of Team India's four title-winning campaigns, including the 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cups and the 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, giving him valuable insights into the dedication and teamwork necessary for sustained success.

Despite not winning the ODI World Cup in 2023 as captain, Rohit remains focused on the team's development and celebrates the collective accomplishments of Indian cricket since then.

Looking Ahead

The recent T20 World Cup victory has further fueled the momentum that has been building over the past two years, solidifying India's position as a leading force in world cricket.

Rohit expressed immense pride in the achievements of Indian cricket over the last few years, beginning with the T20 World Cup win in 2024. He stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum for future success in upcoming tournaments.

"I feel incredibly proud to witness our achievements over the past couple of years, not just from the men's team but also the women's team, which won the World Cup in Mumbai. What the men's team accomplished in the T20 World Cup was phenomenal, and I hope this is just the beginning," he stated.

Team India's next significant ICC challenge will be the Women's T20 World Cup this year, followed by the Women's Champions Trophy and Men's ODI World Cup in 2027. The Men in Blue will enter the 2028 T20 World Cup and 2029 Champions Trophy as defending champions, while the women's team will aim to defend their ODI World Cup title in 2029.
