Rohit Sharma Announces Test Retirement


New Delhi: On Wednesday, Rohit Sharma officially declared his retirement from Test cricket, putting an end to the ongoing speculation regarding his future in the format.


At 38 years old, Rohit has been a standout performer for India in Test matches, amassing a total of 4,301 runs across 67 matches, which includes 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries, with an average of 40.57.


He led the Indian team to the World Test Championship final against Australia and played a crucial role in stabilizing the team during challenging series against New Zealand and Australia.


With Rohit's departure, India will be looking for a new Test captain ahead of the upcoming five-match series in England. Potential candidates for the captaincy include Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant.
