Following the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rohit and Kohli have chosen to focus solely on ODIs, stepping back from Tests and T20Is. Their absence from the ongoing Test series against England has intensified speculation regarding their future in international cricket.

Since the Sri Lanka tour is expected to involve white-ball matches, there is a possibility for their selection.
