Rohit Baisoya Takes Early Lead

In the opening round of the INR 25 lakh Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship 2026, held at Patna Golf Club, Delhi's Rohit Baisoya delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a remarkable seven-under 65. This event marks the fourth tournament of the 2026 DP World PGTI NexGen season. Following closely behind, Bipin Mukhiya and Manoviraj Shekhawat both finished the day tied for second place with scores of 68.

Day 1 Highlights

Vinay Kumar Yadav, who claimed victory in the previous NexGen event, achieved a hole-in-one on the first hole, finishing with a score of 72, placing him tied for ninth. Local professional Md Nawab performed well, carding a score of 70, which secured him a tie for fourth. The Patna Golf Club features a par-72 nine-hole layout, where players complete two rounds of the same nine holes.

Baisoya's Stellar Performance

Rohit Baisoya's round included four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, followed by an impressive back nine where he scored an eagle and three additional birdies. Notably, he made an eagle on the 13th hole after chipping in from the bunker and successfully converted two challenging greenside bunker shots into birdies on the 12th and 14th holes.

Reflecting on his performance, Rohit emphasized his success on the par-5 holes, stating, "I made all the four Par-5s count by scoring an eagle and three birdies on them. I hit a lot of fairways, which is crucial on this course. The stretch from the 12th to the 14th was special as I played three outstanding bunker shots there to get myself out of trouble and pick up an eagle and two birdies."
