Vadra's Concerns Over NEET Paper Leak
Businessman Robert Vadra expressed his discontent on July 22 regarding the government's lack of action in the NEET paper leak case. He criticized the BJP for lacking a vision for students and failing to address their concerns with any concrete plans. In a video message, Vadra stated that he is both shocked and saddened by the situation faced by students and activist Sonam Wangchuk. He noted that students are demanding the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, yet instead of listening to their grievances, they are met with police force and tear gas.
Support for Student Protests
Vadra highlighted that over 20 students have reportedly taken their own lives due to this issue. He mentioned that whenever voices are raised against the government, those individuals are labeled as anti-national. He believes that the protests will not cease and expressed his support for the demonstrators, stating that he is in contact with them and will assist in any way possible. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram also backed the students' demands and criticized the government for not taking substantial steps to resolve the paper leak issue or ensure accountability.
Call for Accountability and Reform
Chidambaram pointed out two main issues: the systematic and ongoing leaks in various examinations, and the lack of accountability among ministers, secretaries, and the head of the NTA. He emphasized that the government has not communicated any measures taken to improve the examination system, leading to a loss of public trust. Furthermore, he argued that NEET itself contradicts the federal structure, asserting that admissions should be determined by state governments without central interference. He called for the abolition of NEET and for the examination system to be strengthened, but noted that the government refuses to establish accountability.
Protest Leaders Demand Direct Dialogue
Amid the ongoing stalemate regarding the NEET-UG paper leak, Saurav Das, a leader of the Cockroach Public Party and protest organizer, rejected the government's invitation for discussions at their private residence. He insisted that any dialogue should occur in the public arena at Jantar Mantar, stressing that protesters are not interested in futile negotiations and that the government must demonstrate a clear intent to address the main complaints.
