RJD Intensifies Campaign Against BJP Over Alleged Insult to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is ramping up its campaign against the BJP following allegations of disrespect towards Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by party leader Lalu Prasad. A video surfaced on June 11, coinciding with Lalu Prasad's birthday, showing a poster of Dr. Ambedkar placed near his feet. The BJP has been vocal about this issue, with Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary holding a press conference in Patna to address it.

In the midst of the controversy involving Lalu Prasad and Dr. Ambedkar's image, posters in Patna have emerged stating, 'It has been seven days, when will you apologize, Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav?' On Sunday, the Bihar State Scheduled Caste Commission issued a notice to Lalu, requesting clarification on his stance regarding the matter. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav criticized Lalu Prasad for remaining silent on the issue, stating to reporters in Delhi, 'The people of Bihar have not forgotten Laluji's rule, during which atrocities against Dalits and backward communities were rampant. The scenes depicted in the video clearly reflect his arrogance. I firmly believe he should apologize for this.'

In response to the BJP's accusations, senior RJD leader Manoj Jha dismissed them as meaningless theatrics. He stated that the BJP's actions towards their national president reveal their hollow politics, which often highlights the tension between symbolic reverence and genuine commitment. While the BJP frequently invokes Dr. B.R. Ambedkar through statues, events, and images, we emphasize that they often neglect or contradict the fundamental values he established—social justice, equality, and constitutional morality.
