Riyadh Airport Faces Renewed Attacks Amid Escalating Yemen Conflict
Riyadh Airport Under Siege
Cairo: Reports indicate that the airport in Saudi Arabia's capital has come under attack once more.
According to two regional officials, the Riyadh airport was evacuated, and air traffic has been halted. They requested anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the press.
King Khalid International Airport has faced multiple assaults this week, resulting in the deaths of three Saudi civilians, including a pilot, on Thursday.
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen have claimed responsibility for these assaults, although no immediate statement was released by the Houthis on Saturday.
In response, the airport has issued a brief notice advising travelers to verify their flight status with airlines before heading to the airport.
The conflict in Yemen has intensified, with fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-supported Yemeni government forces escalating. A Saudi-led coalition is providing air support to government forces in an effort to reclaim territory lost to the Houthis along the Red Sea.
