Ritesh Pandey Resigns from Jan Suraj Party, Ending Political Journey
Ritesh Pandey Steps Away from Politics
Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Pandey has officially resigned from the Jan Suraj Party, marking the conclusion of his brief political career. This decision comes a few months after the party's disappointing performance in the Bihar Assembly elections. Pandey shared his choice on social media, explaining his reasons for stepping back from active politics. In a post on X, he mentioned that he joined the Jan Suraj Party as a responsible Indian and participated in the democratic process with full integrity. Despite the unfavorable election results, he expressed that he has no regrets.
Pandey stated that he wishes to continue serving the people through his work, which has earned him immense love, affection, and respect. He emphasized that he should continue to serve the community through the same work that has brought him such admiration from the public, especially as someone from a humble farming background. He noted that it is challenging to do this while being an active member of any political party, which is why he has decided to resign from the Jan Suraj Party.
He further expressed his hope that his thoughts, conveyed in a few words, would be understood by everyone. Pandey had formally entered politics by joining the Jan Suraj Party in the presence of its founder, Prashant Kishor. However, following the election results, the singer-turned-politician has opted to distance himself from party politics. He joined the Jan Suraj Party in July 2025, just months before the Bihar Assembly elections, where he contested from the Karghahar constituency in Rohtas district but faced defeat. The JDU candidate, Vashistha Singh, won the seat by a margin of 35,676 votes.
