Rishabh Pant Faces Six-Week Absence Due to Toe Fracture
Rishabh Pant's Injury Update
Indian cricket team's vice-captain, Rishabh Pant, will be sidelined for six weeks following a significant toe fracture. The injury occurred during the 4th Test match when Pant was struck on his right foot while attempting a reverse-sweep against Chris Woakes in the 68th over. The impact was severe enough to cause him considerable pain, leading to an LBW appeal from the England team, which was later confirmed by a DRS review showing an inside edge off his bat.
As reported by a source within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant's injury has been confirmed as a toe fracture, ruling him out for the next six weeks. The medical staff is exploring the possibility of him batting again with the aid of painkillers, but the likelihood of his return appears slim.
During the incident, Pant removed his gloves and limped around the crease, raising immediate concern from the team's physiotherapist. At the drinks break, the medical team removed his right boot, socks, and pads, revealing swelling and a small cut on the outside of his foot. Unable to bear weight on the injured foot, Pant was transported off the field in a buggy, and a substitute batter was sent in.
