Rinku Singh's Father Passes Away

Rinku Singh, the Indian batter, is set to rejoin the national team tomorrow for their critical Super 8 match against the West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, following the death of his father on Friday morning, as confirmed by BCCI management.

Khanchand Singh, Rinku's father, passed away in a Greater Noida hospital and was cremated in Aligarh on the same day, where many gathered to pay their respects.

He succumbed to fourth-stage cancer after a prolonged battle, leaving Rinku devastated as he carried his father's remains during the funeral procession.

Tributes and Team Updates

The news of Khanchand Singh's passing elicited heartfelt tributes from various individuals, including Rajeev Shukla, Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

The Indian cricket team, the defending champions, arrived in Kolkata on Friday evening in preparation for their important Super 8 match against the West Indies.

Rinku had previously returned home from the T20 World Cup squad to support his family during his father's declining health after India's initial Super 8 match against South Africa. He later rejoined the team in Chennai ahead of the match against Zimbabwe on Thursday.

Rinku's World Cup Performance

Throughout the World Cup, Rinku's batting performance has been inconsistent, often coming to the crease with limited opportunities to score. He has accumulated only 24 runs across five innings, remaining unbeaten twice, with a top score of 11*.

In his 10 T20I appearances this year, the left-handed batter has scored 115 runs in eight innings, averaging 28.75 with a strike rate of 132.18, and achieving a best score of 44*.

The Indian team is gearing up for their final Super 8 clash against the West Indies on Sunday, where the winner will advance to the semi-finals alongside South Africa from Group 1.
