New Delhi, Oct 29: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced updated maximum retail prices (MRPs) for 543 brands of anti-cancer medications.
The new MRPs will take effect starting November 9, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the NPPA has published a comprehensive list detailing the revised MRPs for these anti-cancer drugs. This update is part of ongoing efforts to ensure fair pricing in the pharmaceutical sector.
The latest price adjustments are based on data provided by pharmaceutical companies up until October 27, 2026, and will be subject to further updates as manufacturers report new pricing for non-scheduled anti-cancer medications.
"The updated price list reflects submissions from companies as of October 27, 2026, and will be revised as manufacturers provide new pricing information for non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs," the ministry stated.
This initiative follows NPPA's earlier announcement on October 17, 2026, regarding the rationalization of trade margins for 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer medications, aimed at protecting public interest.
The goal of this initiative is to minimize excessive trade margins within the supply chain, thereby lowering treatment costs for patients and enhancing access to essential oncology medications.
Manufacturers were instructed to submit updated pricing details to the NPPA, which are now reflected in the revised MRP list.
The 137 medications involved in the trade margin rationalization include several commonly prescribed cancer treatments.
These treatments encompass immunotherapy drugs for over 20 cancer types, Denosumab for breast and prostate cancer, Pegfilgrastim to prevent neutropenia in cancer patients, and Bevacizumab for colon, ovarian, and cervical cancers.
The Department of Pharmaceuticals has made the updated list of 543 anti-cancer medication brands available on the NPPA portal, which will be continuously updated as more manufacturers submit their revised pricing information.
According to the official announcement, numerous key anti-cancer brands have experienced significant price reductions.
For instance, RPG Life Sciences Ltd's Fulbreca (5 ml vial) will see its price drop from Rs 26,072.16 to Rs 5,491.0, while Abbott Healthcare Pvt Ltd's BEVACIZAB (4 ml vial) will now cost Rs 5,930.1, down from Rs 21,767.70.
