Revealed: Israel Uncovers Hamas-Iran Financial Ties Amid Ongoing Conflict
Israel Exposes Intelligence Linking Hamas to Iran
Tel Aviv: Israeli officials have released an intelligence document that allegedly demonstrates a direct financial and operational connection between Hamas and Iran. This includes a request for $500 million to facilitate plans for an invasion of Israel, which culminated in the attack on October 7, 2023.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz shared this document along with a video on the social media platform X, stating, "This is the first time I am revealing a document discovered in the tunnels of senior Hamas officials in Gaza, which confirms a direct relationship between Iran and Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Muhammad Deif, as part of Iran's backing for Hamas's objective to eliminate Israel."
The intelligence was reportedly uncovered by Israeli forces during operations in Hamas tunnels and was presented during Katz's visit to the IDF's "Amshat" intelligence unit, as reported by a local media outlet.
Katz indicated that the document details Hamas's request to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force for $20 million monthly over a two-year period.
The objective outlined was to "uproot this monstrous entity" and "end this dark period in our nation's history."
Katz also mentioned that Hossein Akbari Izadi, who leads the IRGC's Palestinian department, assured Hamas of ongoing support despite Iran's economic challenges, emphasizing Tehran's strategic focus on opposing Israel and the United States.
"In the document, Hamas seeks $500 million from the IRGC's Quds Force to finance the destruction of Israel," Katz stated, further asserting, "Iran is the head of the snake."
He added that Iran's support is not limited to Gaza but extends to other areas, including Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria, and the Houthis in Yemen, labeling it a widespread "axis of terror."
"Israel will take all necessary measures to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and will continue to target its terror proxies until the Iranian axis of evil is dismantled," the Defence Minister declared.
These revelations emerge as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in the United States for discussions with former President Donald Trump and other officials, reportedly focusing on the Gaza conflict, trade, and regional security issues.
Meanwhile, unrest appears to be escalating in Gaza.
Reports from a local media outlet indicate fresh protests in Jabalia, northern Gaza, where demonstrators voiced slogans like "Hamas are terrorists" and "Hamas are garbage."
Anti-Hamas protests have re-emerged in recent weeks, despite reported crackdowns by the group.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas executed an unprecedented assault on southern Israel, resulting in over 1,200 fatalities and the kidnapping of 251 individuals. According to Israeli statistics, 59 hostages remain in Gaza, with 35 believed to be deceased.
