Incident in Bijnor District

A retired junior engineer in Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, has been taken into custody for allegedly shooting a dog with his licensed revolver. This information was confirmed by a police official on Saturday.


According to Nitesh Pratap Singh, the area officer of Najibabad, the retired engineer, Rajveer Singh, shot the dog that was roaming in his colony on Friday evening using his licensed firearm. The dog succumbed to its injuries following the incident.


The police reported that the suspect has been arrested, and his revolver has been confiscated. Meanwhile, members of the 'Animal Friends Club', Anuradha Mathur and Jyoti Sharma, have called for the revocation of the accused's weapon license, citing CCTV footage that allegedly shows him brandishing the revolver and shooting the dog.


Neighbors, including Dr. L.S. Bisht and Rajkumar Kalra, mentioned that the dog often sat outside the accused's home. They also claimed that the suspect chased the dog and reportedly fired five shots at it.
