Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya has appointed retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as its first full-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mishra, who has dedicated nearly four decades to the Indian Air Force, has held significant roles as a fighter pilot, test pilot, senior military officer, and head of the Western Air Command. His next major challenge will be overseeing the administration and operations of the Ram Temple.
First Full-Time CEO for the Ram Temple Trust
Mishra's appointment was made during a trust meeting. Reports indicate that a large number of applications were received for the CEO position, leading to a thorough selection process. His selection comes at a time when the construction of the Ram Temple is progressing, and the scope of administrative, financial, and operational tasks associated with the temple is continuously expanding.
Career Beginnings in the Air Force
Jeetendra Mishra was commissioned into the Indian Air Force's flying branch on December 6, 1986. He began his career as a fighter pilot and gradually ascended to crucial positions within the Air Force.
Significant Contributions During Kargil War
A pivotal chapter in Mishra's military career was the Kargil War in 1999, where he participated in operational missions involving the Mirage-2000 and was part of the team that operationalized laser-guided bombs.
Test Pilot Experience
Mishra is not only recognized for flying fighter jets but also for his extensive experience as a test pilot. He served as the Chief Test Pilot and later as the Commandant at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE).
Leadership in Western Air Command
In the latter part of his career, Jeetendra Mishra served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Western Air Command, one of the most significant commands in the Indian Air Force.
Over 3,000 Flight Hours
Throughout his extensive military career, Mishra has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours and has experience flying more than 18 types of aircraft.
Retirement and New Role
After nearly four decades of service, Jeetendra Mishra retired from the Indian Air Force on April 30, 2026. Shortly after his retirement, he was appointed to a crucial administrative role within the Ram Temple Trust.
