Residents Demand Road Repairs Amid Rising Accidents in Kalyanpura
Poor Road Conditions Cause Safety Concerns
In Kalyanpura, the deteriorating road conditions have made life challenging for local villagers. The path connecting Mohan Ji's Dhani to Rameshwar Ji's Dhani has fallen into disrepair, with large potholes making travel hazardous. A particularly deep hole near the pond close to Rameshwar Ji's Dhani has become a significant cause of accidents, frequently resulting in injuries for motorcyclists.
Local residents Ravi Badiwal and Rahul Sharma reported that they have lodged multiple complaints with the village council's head and the village development officer, but no action has been taken. A response received in March 2025 via the Rajasthan contact portal indicated that the issue would be addressed in the upcoming annual work plan, but by May 2025, they were informed that there was no budget available. Since then, no solutions have emerged, leading to growing frustration among the villagers.
The villagers have warned that if the road is not repaired or a permanent road is not constructed soon, they will be compelled to protest. They plan to stage a sit-in at the village council and the Panchayat committee, along with organizing a Satbuddhi Yagya.
Widespread Issue in Rural Rajasthan
- This issue is prevalent in many rural areas of Rajasthan, where small roads are often neglected due to budget constraints and lack of prioritization. While some road projects, such as the Chaksu-Bhadrawas road, are underway in the Chaksu region, the unpaved and damaged paths leading to local Dhani often go unnoticed.
- The villagers' complaints are valid—safety, daily commutes, and accidents are significant concerns. Although budget limitations are cited at the Panchayat level, there is a pressing need to shift priorities locally or exert pressure at the MLA or district level.
- Symbolic protests like the Satbuddhi Yagya (along with sit-ins) may draw attention, but for a lasting solution, written complaints, RTI requests, or reaching out to the Panchayat committee or district collector may prove more effective.
