Tribute to a Political Veteran


Chandigarh: Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, a prominent figure in the Akali Dal and former Union minister, passed away on Wednesday evening due to health complications related to his age at a private hospital in Mohali. He was 89 years old.


According to family sources, Dhindsa had been admitted to the hospital the previous day.


His son, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, previously served as the finance minister in the Akali government.


Sukhdev Dhindsa represented Sangrur as a Lok Sabha MP for the Shiromani Akali Dal.


He held the position of Union minister for sports, chemicals, and fertilizers during the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
