Reliance and Surrey CCC Forge New Partnership in The Hundred

On Wednesday, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, announced a partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club regarding the Oval Invincibles franchise in The Hundred. This agreement grants the two organizations stakes of 49% and 51% in the franchise, respectively, marking a transfer of ownership from the England and Wales Cricket Board.


Starting in 2026, both the men's and women's teams will be rebranded as MI London. The Oval Invincibles have established themselves as the most successful team in The Hundred's history, clinching five titles in five years. The women's team achieved back-to-back championships in the initial two years, while the men's team secured three consecutive titles from 2023 to 2025. Over the past three years, the men's team has dominated the global franchise cricket scene.


The success of the Oval Invincibles is attributed to homegrown talents from Surrey, including Sam and Tom Curran, Will Jacks, and Alice Capsey, alongside international stars like Marizanne Kapp, Rashid Khan, and Adam Zampa.


MI's Global Cricket Expansion

According to a press release, Mumbai Indians bring extensive experience in developing top-tier cricket teams, emphasizing their commitment to player development and global fan engagement. With this new partnership, the MI Family now includes seven teams across five countries and four continents, showcasing MI's ambition to expand cricket worldwide, foster emerging talent, and connect fans through the sport.


Over the past 17 years, the MI family has achieved 13 league titles globally, making them the most successful franchise in T20 leagues. Their accolades include five IPL titles, two Women's Premier League titles, two Major League Cricket titles, two Champions League T20 titles, and one title each in the ILT20 (MI Emirates, 2024) and SA20 (MI Cape Town, 2025). Every team within the MI Family has now secured a championship trophy.
