National Senior Athletics Federation Competition 2026 Kicks Off

The 29th National Senior Athletics Federation Competition is set to commence in Ranchi on May 22, where athletes from the Reliance Foundation aim to showcase their skills. This event is pivotal as it serves as a qualification round for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland.


Top Athletes Target Glasgow Qualification

James Hillier, the Athletics Director at Reliance Foundation, described this competition as a crucial juncture for Indian athletics, especially given the high qualification standards this season. Notable athletes such as Animesh Kujur, Lalu Prasad Bhoi, Jeswin Aldrin, Tejas Shirse, M Krishik, Krishna Jayasankar, Damneet Singh, and Mohammed Afsal are among those striving for a spot in Glasgow.


Selection Pathway for Qualified Athletes

Several Reliance Foundation athletes, including Tejaswin Shankar (Decathlon), Murali Sreeshankar (Long Jump), Lokesh Sathyanathan (Long Jump), and Reegan Ganesan (Pole Vault), along with the men's 4x100m relay team, have already met the qualification criteria for the Commonwealth Games 2026. Hillier expressed confidence in their preparation, stating, "Our athletes have shown remarkable discipline and determination. Winning gold here is the best route to selection, and we are proud to see them competing at this level, representing India with pride."
