Shri Amarnath Yatra Registration Details
The registration process for the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 will commence on April 15, 2026, at designated bank branches. Pilgrims can register for both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. It is important to note that individuals under 13 years and over 70 years of age will not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage. A health certificate from an authorized doctor or health institution designated by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board is mandatory for registration.
Cultural Show Approved by the Shrine Board
During its 50th board meeting, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) approved the organization of a laser and sound show dedicated to 'Baba Barfani', which will take place in both Srinagar and Jammu. This event aims to highlight the rich spiritual history of the Union Territory and will serve as a cultural symbol. Additionally, the board announced that the first worship for the 2026 pilgrimage will be conducted on June 29, 2026, coinciding with the Jyestha Purnima. The official start date for the pilgrimage will be announced soon.
Enhancements for Pilgrims' Experience
The meeting, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who also serves as the SASB chairman, focused on several key measures to enhance the spiritual experience and convenience for pilgrims during the upcoming 2026 journey. The board decided to increase the accident insurance coverage for registered pilgrims, service providers, officials, seasonal staff, and priests from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
Welfare Measures and Project Updates
The board also discussed and approved various welfare measures for SASB employees. The meeting covered ongoing projects, dissemination of travel-related information, insurance coverage for ponies, expansion of online and prepaid services, registration of pilgrims, disaster preparedness and prevention measures, provision of adequate medical care facilities, community kitchens and volunteer services, telecommunications, grid connectivity, weather forecasting infrastructure and systems, security and surveillance, a digital prepaid system for hiring services, and the installation of accident barriers and safety railings in sensitive areas along both routes.
