Nagoya, Sep 25: Suruchi Inder Singh and Kamaljeet from India showcased an extraordinary performance, clinching the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Asian Games. They achieved an impressive score of 484.6, setting a new Asian record during the finals.
The duo demonstrated remarkable composure under pressure, executing a flawless display of accuracy and consistency that allowed them to secure the top position. Their score surpassed the previous Asian record of 481.3, which was held by Uzbekistan's Mukhammad Kamalov and Nigina Saidkulova since February.
In the competition, South Korea's Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo earned the silver medal with a score of 478.0, while Iran's Vahid Golkhandan and Haniyeh Rostamiyan took home the bronze with 415.8.
Throughout the event, Suruchi and Kamaljeet maintained their lead, showcasing their skill and teamwork, which proved vital in the mixed-team format. Their performance kept the South Korean team at bay, ensuring their victory.
Indonesia's Darmoyo A. and Prabowo M. finished in fourth place with a score of 349.4.
This gold medal adds to India's impressive achievements in shooting sports, reinforcing the nation's prowess in precision shooting on a continental stage.

Earlier in the competition, the Indian team had already set a new Asian Games Qualification Record with a score of 587, surpassing the previous record of 577 set by fellow Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju in Hangzhou 2023.
Additionally, Kamaljeet and Suruchi's qualification score matched the Asian Record, equaling the achievement of Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker in 2021.
