Realme Joins Forces with Optiemus to Boost AIoT Manufacturing in India

New Delhi: The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Realme has announced a collaboration with Optiemus Electronics to produce its upcoming AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) devices in India.

This recent development, occurring amidst a global tariff adjustment and India's initiative to enhance high-tech production, represents a pivotal move towards bolstering the country's manufacturing framework and supporting the government's 'Make in India' campaign.

Realme and Optiemus Electronics (OEL) aim to manufacture 5 million AIoT devices each year, which is expected to create over 2,000 new jobs in India, as stated in a recent press release.

In line with its long-term strategy to enhance local manufacturing, Realme plans to produce its entire range of AIoT products in India, including items like earphones, smartwatches, and tablets.

Notable products such as the Realme Buds T200 series, Realme Buds Wireless series, and Realme Buds Air series are set to begin production locally this year.

Additionally, Realme is intensifying its efforts to procure a majority of essential components, including PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), batteries, mechanics, cables, and chargers, from Indian suppliers.

"In addition to meeting the increasing demands of Indian consumers, Realme is exploring avenues to export Made-in-India AIoT products to international markets, positioning India as not only a manufacturing hub but also a center for global innovation and production," the release noted.

This partnership is also expected to foster a more robust local supply chain and develop a skilled workforce to facilitate high-volume and quality production.
