Tragic Incident in Lucknow
Lucknow. According to residents of the enclave, the couple had moved in around Diwali last year and kept to themselves. Prabal Jain, a real estate businessman who lost millions in IPL betting and struggled with addiction, tragically jumped from the 11th floor of the Janeshwar Enclave apartment on Thursday night. Authorities discovered a suicide note in Prabal's flat, detailing his distress over his gambling losses and addiction.
Background of the Victim
Inspector Anjani Kumar Mishra stated that Prabal Jain hailed from Mahmoodabad in Sitapur. He lived with his wife Shivani in a rented flat owned by Om Prakash Srivastava. Shivani works as a ground floor manager at a mall. The couple had been married for about a year and a half.
Details of the Incident
On Thursday night, Prabal was alone in the flat around 8 PM when he jumped from the balcony. At that time, several residents were walking in the ground area of the apartment. Upon hearing a loud thud, they rushed to the scene and found Prabal bleeding profusely with severe head injuries. The police arrived and transported him to the trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigation Underway
A forensic team was called in to investigate. They found a handwritten suicide note in Prabal's flat, where he expressed his financial losses due to betting. He mentioned his desire to quit gambling but felt unable to do so. ACP A. Vikram Singh noted that the suicide note included names of some individuals, but no direct accusations were made. If the family files a complaint, further action will be taken.
CCTV Footage Review
Prabal Jain met Shivani, who is from Bokaro, Jharkhand, during their studies at Integral University, where their relationship blossomed before marriage. Residents mentioned that the couple had been living in the enclave since last Diwali and were not very social. It has also been reported that Prabal's father committed suicide some time ago, and his mother has also passed away. ACP Gaziabad confirmed that the family has not accused anyone yet, but the police are investigating all angles. The footage from the apartment's CCTV cameras is also being reviewed.
