RCB's Rajat Patidar Aims for IPL Glory After Opening Match Victory

In the inaugural match of IPL 2026 held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). SRH set a target of 201 runs, but RCB chased it down successfully in just 15.4 overs, marking a victorious start to their season.

Following the win, RCB's captain Rajat Patidar emphasized their ambition to win the tournament, stating that the team is not just defending their title but is determined to claim victory this season.

Rajat Patidar's Insights After the Match

After defeating SRH by six wickets, Patidar remarked,

“We are not playing with the mindset of having something to defend. What happened in 2025 is in the past. This time, we are focused on performing our best to win the title again.”

He also praised Virat Kohli, saying,

“Kohli is the best when it comes to chasing targets. I have always admired his batting, and watching him play from the dugout is incredible.”

Patidar further added,

“Like coach Andy Flower, I believe he is at the peak of his game. I don’t have enough words to describe his innings. He is my idol, and I learn a lot from watching him practice with such energy and enthusiasm.”

Praise for Jacob Duffy

Rajat Patidar also commended Jacob Duffy, who took three wickets for just 22 runs in four overs, stating,

“He is a specialist T20 bowler, and we have a lot of faith in him. The way he is performing is outstanding.”

Reflecting on the loss of lives during last year's RCB victory parade, Patidar expressed,

“Losing loved ones is always a painful experience.”
