RCB Dominates CSK with a Record-Breaking 250 Runs in IPL Clash
RCB's Explosive Innings
In a thrilling match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased their batting prowess, scoring an impressive 250 runs for the loss of 3 wickets against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have won the IPL title five times.
After being asked to bat first, RCB's Virat Kohli (28 runs off 18 balls, including two fours and a six) and Phil Salt (46 runs off 30 balls, with three fours and two sixes) failed to convert their starts into big scores. However, explosive performances from Devdutt Padikkal (50 runs off 29 balls, featuring six fours and two sixes), Rajat Patidar (48 not out off 19 balls, with one four and six sixes), and Tim David (70 not out off 25 balls, including three fours and eight sixes) propelled RCB to a formidable total. Notably, David and Patidar formed a remarkable partnership, adding 99 runs for the fourth wicket in just 35 balls, contributing to a total of 19 sixes hit during the innings.
RCB's Cautious Start
RCB's innings began cautiously, with openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli managing only 17 runs in the first three overs without hitting a boundary. Kohli eventually broke the silence with a six over midwicket and a four through mid-off against Matt Henry in the fourth over.
However, Kohli's innings ended when he was caught by Shivam Dube off Anshul Kamboj's bowling, departing for 28 runs from 18 balls. At this point, RCB was at 37 runs for the loss of one wicket in 4.3 overs.
Salt concluded the powerplay with a stylish four, bringing RCB's score to 50 runs after six overs. He continued to find boundaries against Kamboj and Noor Ahmed, while Padikkal joined the scoring spree. By the halfway mark, RCB stood at 91 runs for the loss of one wicket, with Salt (45*) and Padikkal (16*) at the crease.
Padikkal and Patidar Accelerate
The second wicket partnership of 56 runs was broken when Dube dismissed Salt for 46 runs off 30 balls, thanks to a brilliant catch by Noor in the deep. RCB's score was now 93 for 2 in 10.4 overs.
Despite the loss, RCB maintained their momentum, with Padikkal and Patidar hitting a six each against Noor in the 12th over, reaching the 100-run mark in 11.1 overs.
Dube's 13th over proved costly, as Patidar and Padikkal scored 23 runs, including two fours and two sixes. Patidar then hit Henry for a six over mid-off, marking the 50-run partnership in just 16 balls. Padikkal reached his second consecutive fifty in 28 balls, while RCB crossed the 150-run mark in 13.5 overs. However, Jamie Overton ended the 58-run partnership by bowling Padikkal out while he attempted a lap shot, leaving RCB at 151 for 3 in 14.1 overs.
David and Patidar's Fiery Finish
At the end of 15 overs, RCB's score was 153 for 3.
Patidar continued the assault, hitting Khaleel for two sixes and a four, accumulating 19 runs in the 16th over.
In the 17th over, Tim David unleashed a barrage of sixes against Noor Ahmed, hitting three consecutive sixes. He followed this with a four, and despite being dismissed on a no-ball, he helped RCB reach the 200-run mark in 17.4 overs. David capped off the over with a massive six.
In the penultimate over, David smashed Overton for four sixes and a four, achieving his fifty in just 21 balls, which included two fours and eight sixes. RCB concluded their innings at 250 for 3, with David (70* off 25 balls) and Patidar (48* off 19 balls) putting on a spectacular display with a 99-run partnership in just 35 balls.
CSK Bowling Performance
CSK's bowlers struggled to contain the RCB batsmen, with Anshul Kamboj finishing with figures of 1 wicket for 52 runs in four overs, Jamie Overton taking 1 for 42 in three overs, and Dube claiming 1 for 30 in two overs. Matt Henry also faced difficulties, ending with 0 for 36 in three overs.
