IPL 2025 Final Highlights

The final match of IPL 2025 took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, featuring a showdown between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings. RCB emerged victorious in this thrilling encounter. Punjab's captain, Shreyas Iyer, struggled significantly, scoring just 1 run before being dismissed. His poor shot selection led to his downfall, prompting former player Yograj Singh to voice his concerns.

Yograj Singh's Strong Remarks

In a conversation with a news outlet, Yograj Singh expressed his disappointment, stating, 'The shot played by Shreyas Iyer in the IPL 2025 final was akin to a criminal offense. This is my belief. Ashok Mankad informed me about what constitutes a criminal act in cricket. It falls under Section 302. He advised that the appropriate consequence should be a two-match ban. What Shreyas did was completely unacceptable, and there is no excuse for it.'

What Shot Provoked Yograj's Anger?

During the final, RCB batted first, scoring 190 runs while losing 9 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, Punjab Kings lost two wickets for just 72 runs within 9 overs. Shreyas Iyer had previously delivered a match-winning half-century in Qualifier 2, raising expectations among Punjab fans for a stellar performance in the final. However, he failed to deliver.

Iyer attempted a big shot off Romario Shepherd's delivery, but the ball edged off his bat and was caught by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, leading to his early dismissal. This hasty decision ultimately cost Punjab Kings the match against RCB.

RCB Celebrates Historic Victory

This victory marks RCB's first IPL trophy after 18 years of competition. Despite a commendable performance from Punjab's young player Shashank Singh, who scored 61 runs not out, the team could not secure a win. RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs, while Krunal Pandya also contributed with 2 wickets.
