RCB Celebrates Back-to-Back IPL Titles with Virat Kohli's Stellar Performance
RCB's Remarkable IPL Victory
After clinching the Indian Premier League (IPL) title, Arun Dhumal, the IPL chairman, remarked that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have merely begun their journey. He emphasized that their star player, Virat Kohli, is already a trophy in his own right. RCB has now achieved consecutive IPL victories, a feat previously accomplished by five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). This marks their fourth title in Indian franchise cricket, which includes two Women's Premier League (WPL) championships. Notably, they are the only team this year to have won both the IPL and WPL titles.
'They Have Just Started'
In a media interaction, Dhumal stated, "I believe RCB has just begun. They mentioned last year that they would secure back-to-back titles, and they did just that. Their performance throughout the season was exceptional. Although the Gujarat Titans showcased remarkable teamwork and had a strong bowling lineup, it simply wasn't their day."
'Virat is a Trophy Himself'
Regarding Virat Kohli, Dhumal expressed, "He doesn't require any trophies; he is a trophy himself." Kohli concluded the season with an impressive tally of 675 runs across 16 innings, averaging 56.25 with a career-high strike rate of 165.84. His performance included a century and five half-centuries, with a top score of 105*. He finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament.
Commendation for Young Talent
Dhumal also praised the 15-year-old talent from Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, stating, "Vaibhav possesses incredible talent. I wish him all the best and hope he continues to achieve great things for his country."
Looking Forward
As a closing remark, Dhumal noted that the upcoming year will mark the 20th anniversary of the IPL, promising that it will be a special occasion.
