Patidar Acknowledges Shortfall in Runs

Rajat Patidar, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), expressed that his team fell short by approximately 15-20 runs following a six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals (DC). He pinpointed a collapse during the middle overs as a significant factor in the match's outcome.

During the post-match presentation, Patidar recognized the strong opening partnership between Virat Kohli and Phil Salt but noted that the team could not build on that momentum in the middle overs. "We were very close, but I believe we were 15-20 runs short. The start we had, particularly from Virat bhai and Salt, was promising, but we lost wickets quickly after 12-13 overs, which put us at a disadvantage," he stated.

He also mentioned that the pitch conditions were somewhat tricky at the beginning, making it difficult for the batsmen. "In the first innings, I would describe it as a bit tacky," he remarked.

Despite the defeat, Patidar pointed out a positive aspect, highlighting the team's ability to score valuable runs in the closing overs. "The way we managed to stretch our innings in the last over is a positive sign for us," he added.

The RCB captain emphasized the need for clear execution moving forward, stating that the team would work on correcting their mistakes throughout the lengthy tournament. "I was discussing with the bowlers the importance of clarity in our actions. It's a long tournament, and we will reflect on our errors and make the necessary adjustments," he concluded.

DC Secures Victory in Nail-Biting Finish

Delhi Capitals achieved a thrilling last-ball victory against Bengaluru, winning by four wickets in an IPL match held in Bengaluru on Saturday. RCB batted first, managing to score 175/8, with Phil Salt contributing a solid 63 runs off 38 balls. The DC bowlers, including Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel, each took two wickets, effectively controlling the scoring.

In response, DC faced early trouble, finding themselves at 18/3. However, KL Rahul (57 off 34) and Tristan Stubbs (60* off 47) played crucial roles in rebuilding the innings with their half-centuries. David Miller then made a significant impact, scoring an explosive 22 runs off just 10 balls, sealing the chase dramatically with two sixes and a four in the final over, leading DC to a total of 179/4 in 19.5 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was a standout performer for RCB, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs, including a triple strike during the powerplay. However, the team could not defend their total, allowing DC to climb to fourth place in the standings.
