Ravindra Jadeja Celebrates Match Win and Dedicates Award to His Wife
Jadeja Honors His Wife with Player of the Match Award
Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder for Rajasthan Royals (RR), expressed his delight following a stellar performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He was thrilled to contribute to the team's success and received the Player of the Match accolade, which he dedicated to his wife, Rivaba Jadeja. Jadeja mentioned that the pitch posed challenges with its movement, prompting him to adopt a patient approach at the crease.
Discussing his bowling strategy, Jadeja noted that the ball was gripping slightly, allowing him to effectively mix his pace. He anticipated Nicholas Pooran's aggressive batting style and cleverly used his variations to outsmart him, humorously stating that he had Pooran 'in his pocket.'
"I feel great winning the Man of the Match award. I dedicate this to my wife, the Education Minister of Gujarat. The wicket was tricky with the ball swinging and seaming. I aimed to bat longer. Pooran was in my pocket (laughs). I had a random thought; the ball was gripping a bit, and I knew I could get some hold. I anticipated him playing that shot and adjusted my pace accordingly," Jadeja remarked after the match.
Riyan Parag Reflects on Batting Shortcomings
Riyan Parag, the captain of RR, expressed contentment with the team's overall performance but acknowledged that they fell short in their batting efforts. He believed the team could have aimed for a total closer to 180, especially during his partnership with Shimron Hetmyer, considering the pitch conditions at that time.
Parag emphasized that the pitch was expected to slow down later, making a higher score more challenging for the opposition. He reiterated that RR missed out on crucial runs during their innings.
"I am pleased overall, but we were definitely short with the bat. Given how the wicket was playing when Hetty and I were batting, we should have done better. Honestly, I thought we could have reached 180, which would have been a solid score since I knew it would slow down later," Parag stated.
Impact on IPL Points Table
Following this victory, Rajasthan Royals have climbed to the second position in the IPL points table, accumulating 10 points after seven matches. In contrast, LSG remains in ninth place, struggling to secure vital points.
