Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has delivered a harsh critique of the Indian cricket team's disappointing 0-2 T20I series loss to Ireland at Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. This defeat marks India's first-ever T20I series whitewash against the Irish team.

After an initial loss by 34 runs, the Indian squad, led by Shreyas Iyer, faced a heartbreaking defeat by just one run in the second T20I on Sunday, confirming a historic series loss that shocked the cricket community. Despite a commendable 55-run performance from Tilak Varma and a late batting effort from Harshit Rana, the team fell short of the target by a mere two runs.

Jai Moondra (3/32) and Matthew Hollard (3/26) dismantled the Indian batting order, collectively taking six wickets and limiting the visitors to a score of 153/9, thereby sealing the series victory on home turf.

Ashwin Attributes Batting Struggles to IPL Conditions

"The batting pitches we see in the IPL are not available here, and I truly appreciated the quality of cricket played," stated the 39-year-old.

"Most of the current Indian batting lineup has transitioned directly from the IPL. Their true capabilities at the international level will only be tested on pitches that do not favor batting," he added.

While acknowledging that the IPL has enhanced the batting skills of the players, he warned that they would encounter challenges when facing pitches that provide movement and assistance to bowlers.
