On Thursday, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) celebrated former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri by naming a stand at the Wankhede Stadium in his honor. Shastri, who has enjoyed a remarkable career as a player, commentator, and coach, reflected on this moment as a significant milestone in his enduring relationship with Indian cricket.

During the ceremony, Shastri conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for the recognition. He stated, "This is a tremendous honor for me. Achieving this requires immense dedication. I am truly proud and grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for this acknowledgment."
Tributes to Other Cricket Legends
The MCA also honored other cricketing legends by dedicating stadium gates to Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar, and Diana Edulji at the Wankhede Stadium. The unveiling event was attended by Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, along with MCA President Ajinkya Naik and other members of the cricket community.
Details of the Honoring Ceremony
The MCA Apex Council approved the tribute to these cricket icons during a meeting in February. As part of this initiative, the Level 1 Stand beneath the Press Box was named after Ravi Shastri, recognizing his exceptional contributions to both Mumbai and Indian cricket as a player, leader, and coach. Additionally, Gate No. 3, Gate No. 5, and Gate No. 6 were named the Dilip Sardesai Gate, Diana Edulji Gate, and Eknath Solkar Gate, respectively, honoring these Mumbai legends who have significantly influenced Indian cricket.
