Indian squash athlete Ravi Dixit has expressed admiration for the young talent Anahat Singh, who recently made history by winning the World Junior Squash Championships. At just 18 years old, Anahat has become the first Indian to secure this prestigious title, showcasing her exceptional skills and determination.
Ravi Dixit Highlights Anahat Singh's Potential
During the launch of his debut song 'Ehsaas' in Delhi, Dixit reflected on Anahat's journey, noting her dedication and the strong support system that has contributed to her success. He remarked, "Anahat Singh is undoubtedly talented. I witnessed her growth firsthand during our trip to Malaysia for the Asian Doubles Tournament last year."
A Historic Win for Indian Squash
Anahat made headlines on Saturday by defeating Egypt's Ruqayya Salem with scores of 11-3, 11-7, and 11-9 in the girls' singles final. This victory not only marks her as the first Indian champion in the World Junior Squash Championships but also ends Egypt's 15-year reign in the competition. Throughout the tournament, Anahat displayed remarkable prowess, losing only two games across six matches.
Dixit emphasized the significance of Anahat's win, stating, "Her achievement is a landmark moment for Indian squash. This is fantastic news for India, especially in the realm of squash. I wish her all the best for the Olympics and future competitions."
Anahat's Path to Championship Glory
Dixit acknowledged Anahat's consistent improvement over the years, attributing her success to her determination and the guidance of her coaches. He noted, "When she began her journey, she wasn't at this level, but as she participated in more tournaments, she realized her potential to excel."
He further added, "Her coaches have played a crucial role in her development. When we practice with her and offer advice, she understands that she can achieve anything. Anahat has been competing since the under-11 category, and now she stands as a World Junior Champion, which is a proud moment for all of us."
Dixit Launches 'Ehsaas' to Promote Squash
At the event, Dixit also introduced his debut song 'Ehsaas', which narrates the journey of a squash player. He aims to raise awareness about the sport through this project, stating, "This song reflects my story as a squash player, and it's vital for me to showcase my sport, which is evident in the poster as well."
He explained that the concept of 'Ehsaas' emerged from conversations with friends about making squash more relatable through music and film. "We realized that Bollywood is a powerful medium to reach people quickly," he shared. Dixit has signed three songs with Red Ribbon, with 'Ehsaas' being the first. He concluded by saying that the song captures the struggles, sacrifices, and emotions of a squash player, aiming to introduce the sport to a broader audience.
