Rath Yatra Controversy: Servitors Caught Using Mobile Phones on Chariots
Complaint Filed Over Mobile Phone Usage During Rath Yatra
Puri: The administration of the Shree Jagannath Temple has officially reported to the police regarding certain servitors who allegedly violated a ban by using mobile phones on the chariots during the Rath Yatra.
The Officer on Special Duty (Security) for the SJTA has submitted a formal complaint at the Singhadwar police station concerning this issue.
The complaint highlights that, despite the prohibition on mobile phone usage on or inside the chariots during this year's Rath Yatra, evidence from social media and other platforms indicates that some servitors have been using their phones.
It emphasizes that such actions not only undermine the sacredness of the rituals but also create potential risks to the safety of individuals and property. The complaint requests that this be treated as a formal FIR and urges legal action against those breaching the established norms to maintain the sanctity and safety of this revered event.
Additionally, the SJTA has provided photographic proof showing servitors using mobile phones while on the chariots.
The longstanding ban on mobile phone usage during the Rath Yatra aims to uphold the religious significance of the event and ensure public safety amidst large gatherings.
