Rashtrawadi Congress Party's Response to Congress Remarks

On Wednesday, Sunil Tatkare, the head of the Maharashtra unit of the Rashtrawadi Congress Party (RCP), criticized the Congress party, claiming that their reference to Deputy Chief Minister and RCP leader Sunetra Pawar as a 'mute doll' showcased their 'ideological bankruptcy.' During a press conference, Tatkare emphasized that merely expressing regret is insufficient, urging political figures to exercise restraint when making public comments. This controversy erupted on Tuesday when the Maharashtra Congress shared a video on social media.

The video depicted RCP leader Dhananjay Munde allegedly preventing Sunetra Pawar from responding to a journalist's question regarding law and order in Beed district. Sunetra Pawar serves as the minister in charge of Beed, where Munde's close associate, Valmik Karad, is accused of being the main perpetrator in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog.

In response to the Congress's derogatory remarks, which labeled Sunetra Pawar as a 'mute doll,' the RCP reacted strongly. However, Harshvardhan Sapkal, the state Congress president, later posted on social media platform X, expressing that the comment directed at Pawar was regrettable and stemmed from a misunderstanding.

Tatkare remarked, 'By making such comments, Congress has revealed its ideological bankruptcy. Simply apologizing does not resolve the issue. Leaders must understand what to say and what not to say.' He also pointed out that only the main speaker should address the press during a conference, referring to his own party member Dhananjay Munde, and stated that party leaders are expected to behave more responsibly in similar situations in the future.

He added, 'This should not have happened. Only the main speaker should speak; those sitting beside them should not.' Tatkare expressed his intention to first understand the context in which senior leader Dhananjay Munde made his statement, reiterating that press conferences are primarily for the main speaker.

Tatkare concluded by stating, 'I would like to know the context and reason behind Dhananjay Munde's comments. Ultimately, a press conference is organized under the name of the main speaker, and that person interacts with the media.' He emphasized that this is a fundamental rule of such interactions, noting that during his own press conferences, he encourages journalists to direct their questions to those sitting beside him.
