Claremont Fire Sparks Urgent Action

A swiftly advancing vegetation fire in the Boise Foothills led to a significant emergency response on Monday afternoon as firefighters tackled the escalating Claremont Fire near North Claremont Drive. The Boise Fire Department reported that the fire ignited close to Crestline Drive and Claremont Drive, quickly spreading uphill. Firefighters called for additional aerial support as the fire expanded rapidly, with early estimates indicating it covered between 300 and 500 acres by the afternoon.

Authorities initiated evacuations for homes in the vicinity and the Boise Foothills trail system around Hulls Gulch. The Boise Fire Department also issued a text alert advising individuals in the immediate Hulls Gulch trail area to evacuate promptly and to steer clear of the region until further notice.

Approximately a dozen units from the Boise Fire Department responded to the blaze, which was burning north of the Military Reserve and southeast of the Hulls Gulch Reserve. Air tankers were deployed and were observed making passes over the fire as crews worked diligently to contain its spread.

By 3:30 PM, Boise Fire reported that there were no ongoing evacuations and no structures were in danger, although a substantial firefighting presence remained active. Officials also communicated with nearby residents regarding the fire's status.

The Claremont Fire escalated quickly after its initial report, with Watch Duty initially estimating the fire at around 100 acres before Boise Fire revised the estimate to between 300 and 500 acres. Currently, there is no estimated timeline for containment or control of the fire. The department stated that all official updates for the media, including staging areas and news conferences, will be provided as they become available.
