Ranchi Royals Secure a 5-0 Win
In their second match of the Women's Hockey India League (HIL) 2025-26 Season, Ranchi Royals achieved a convincing 5-0 victory against Shrachi Bengal Tigers at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi on Tuesday, according to a press release.
The goals for Ranchi Royals were scored by Lucina von der Heyde (33', 57'), Hannah Cotter (10'), Beauty Dungdung (14'), and Sangita Kumari (44').
Royals Take Control Early
Ranchi Royals began the match with strong momentum, dominating ball possession and generating numerous scoring opportunities. By halftime, they had made 17 entries into the circle, showcasing their offensive strength. In the fifth minute, they earned their first penalty corner but failed to convert, as Sabine Plonissen's attempt was blocked by a defender.
The first goal came in the 10th minute when Hannah Cotter from New Zealand capitalized on a deflection from a pass by Sakshi Rana, slotting the ball into the net.
Shortly after, Shrachi Bengal Tigers earned a penalty corner but could not capitalize on the opportunity.
Continued Pressure and Scoring
In the 14th minute, Ranchi Royals secured another penalty corner, which they converted successfully. Lucina von der Heyde's initial shot was blocked, but Beauty Dungdung reacted quickly to score from the rebound, doubling their lead.
The second quarter saw the Royals maintain their attacking play, although the Bengal Tigers defended well. Jennifer Rizzo made two vital saves towards the end of the first half, stopping attempts from Augustina Albertarrio and Sakshi Rana.
Second Half Goals Seal the Match
Ranchi Royals continued their scoring spree early in the third quarter. Lucina von der Heyde (33') dribbled from the left and set up Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, who assisted her back for a deflected shot that found the net.
In the 44th minute, Sangita Kumari scored another goal, assisted by Maria Sofia Darnay, who set her up perfectly in front of the goal.
Despite attempts from Shrachi Bengal Tigers to score in the final quarter, Ranchi Royals held firm and relied on counterattacks.
With just four minutes remaining, the Royals earned another penalty corner, which Lucina von der Heyde converted with a well-placed shot, bringing the final score to 5-0.
