Ramdev Promises Delhi High Court to Cease Targeting Hamdard's Rooh Afza

Ramdev's Assurance to the Court
On Friday, Ramdev, co-founder of Patanjali Ayurved, assured the Delhi High Court that he would refrain from making any statements or posting on social media that could be perceived as targeting Hamdard’s beverage, Rooh Afza.
The court instructed Ramdev to submit an affidavit confirming his commitment, as reported by a news outlet.
This development followed a warning from the court regarding potential contempt proceedings due to a recent video that allegedly targeted the food company.
Previously, on April 22, the court had mandated Ramdev to remove advertisements claiming that Rooh Afza was involved in what he termed “sharbat jihad.”
During a hearing on Thursday, the bench led by Amit Bansal learned that Ramdev had released another video containing remarks deemed communal regarding Hamdard.
The bench indicated it would issue a contempt notice and summon Ramdev, noting that he appears to operate in his own realm, detached from external influences.
Ramdev’s legal representative agreed to eliminate the contentious segments of the new video from social media within a day.
The court previously characterized Ramdev's comments about Hamdard as “indefensible.”
In an advertisement for a Patanjali product on April 3, Ramdev, without directly naming Hamdard, suggested that profits from the sale of their drink were being used to fund mosque construction, labeling it as “sharbat jihad.”
Hamdard subsequently sought legal action to have the video removed.
At that time, Ramdev defended his statement, asserting that he had not mentioned any specific company.
The court is scheduled to revisit the case on May 9.
