Ram Mandir Trust's Financial Transparency Under Scrutiny

The Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has declined to provide detailed financial information requested by local authorities following a complaint received from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). According to officials, BJP leader Rajneesh Singh had sent a letter to the PMO on June 9, demanding a comprehensive disclosure of the Trust's financial records. The complaint called for transparency regarding income and expenditures since the establishment of the Ram Temple Trust, including details on donations received, bank account operations, land transactions, and total assets.

Subsequently, the PMO forwarded the matter to the district administration, which sought the necessary information from the Trust. However, reports indicate that the Trust's secretary refused to share the records.

Trust's Response to the Inquiry

In its response, the Trust stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is already conducting a formal inquiry and gathering all essential documents and records. Therefore, sharing additional information at this stage would not be appropriate. Officials have confirmed that the SIT, formed on June 13, submitted its report to the state government earlier this week. The original complaint also requested details about funds raised under the 'Samarapan Nidhi' campaign, donations received in the form of gold, silver, and jewelry, as well as the Trust's bank account statements, financial transactions, and audit reports.

SIT Points Out Irregularities

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the alleged misuse of donations for the Ram Temple, has submitted its preliminary report to Sanjay Prasad, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of Uttar Pradesh. Reports suggest that the report highlights serious flaws in the counting and monitoring of donations. Sources indicate concerns regarding poor oversight and accountability in the management of donations. At this stage of the investigation, the SIT has not cleared any individuals involved in the case. The team has also examined how the staff responsible for counting donations were selected and investigated potential connections between these individuals and the Trust's officials. Additionally, questions have been raised about the officials managing the internal administrative operations of the temple. Given the case's extensive scope and sensitivity, the SIT has requested more time to complete its investigation and has sought additional personnel to assist in conducting a more thorough and detailed inquiry.
