Rajpal Yadav's Cheque Bounce Case Hearing Continues in Delhi High Court
Hearing of Rajpal Yadav's Cheque Bounce Case
The Delhi High Court commenced hearings on the cheque bounce case involving Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav on Wednesday. The court decided to extend his interim bail until the next hearing date, taking into account the substantial payments made to the complainant company. Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma presided over the proceedings. Initially, Yadav's attorney informed the court that a regular bail application had been filed, and the interim protection granted earlier was set to expire. It was noted that a total of ₹4.25 crore had already been paid to the complainant, M/s Murli Projects Private Limited, with an additional demand draft of ₹25 lakh being submitted.
Considering the payments made, the court remarked that sufficient funds had been paid, thus deciding not to send Yadav back to jail and extending his interim bail until the next hearing.
During the proceedings, the court questioned Yadav regarding the disputed loan. The actor, who was present in court, admitted to having taken the loan. The court noted that several opportunities had previously been provided to settle the outstanding amount, which had not been adhered to. Addressing the court, Yadav mentioned that he had been instructed to pay approximately ₹10.40 crore in 2016 and presented documents related to a friend's property valued at ₹28 crore.
He further claimed that despite making a partial payment of ₹2 crore, the complainant showed no interest in recovering the remaining amount and instead sought to have him imprisoned. Yadav informed the court that he was subsequently sent to Tihar Jail, where he spent nearly three months. He added that his financial situation worsened after his incarceration, leading to significant losses in a film project he had invested ₹22 crore in, resulting in a loss of around ₹17 crore.
