Rajnath Singh's Spiritual Visit and Political Commitment in Tamil Nadu
A Divine Experience in Tiruchendur
New Delhi: On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Subramanya Swami Temple in Tiruchendur, Tamil Nadu, where he expressed his gratitude for the spiritual experience. He described feeling 'blessed' by the temple's divine energy.
Sharing his experience on social media platform X, he stated, 'Prayed at the sacred Sri Subramanya Swami temple in Tiruchendur (Tamil Nadu). Feeling blessed to experience the divine energy of this Temple.'
The Subramanya Swami Temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Situated in Tiruchendur, Thoothukudi District, it is one of the six revered abodes of Lord Murugan and uniquely located by the seashore, unlike the others which are on mountains. The temple overlooks the Bay of Bengal, with waves from the Gulf of Mannar washing its shores.
Earlier, on April 19, Rajnath Singh reaffirmed the Union government's commitment to implementing a 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state Assemblies, despite a recent setback in the Lok Sabha regarding the bill.
While addressing a rally in Tamil Nadu, he criticized the DMK, Congress, Trinamool Congress, and Communist parties for obstructing the passage of the women's reservation bill.
'I assure you, on behalf of the government and based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledge, that we will secure the women's quota at the earliest opportunity in Parliament,' Rajnath Singh declared in the Vasudevanallur Assembly constituency.
The Defence Minister is actively participating in the NDA's campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, scheduled for April 23.
He has been leading the campaign efforts in southern Tamil Nadu, with a busy schedule that included speeches in the Radhapuram constituency of Tirunelveli district, Puliyangudi in Tenkasi district, and a roadshow in Panagudi, located just 400 meters from the main event.
The NDA campaign has featured prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who have been rallying support for alliance candidates in recent days.
