Rajnath Singh Urges SCO to Address State-Sponsored Terrorism
Rajnath Singh's Call to Action at SCO Conference
During a recent address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference in Bishkek, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the issue of state-sponsored terrorism, particularly referencing support provided to various terrorist groups by Pakistan. He emphasized that the SCO must not overlook this form of cross-border terrorism, asserting that there is no room for 'double standards' in addressing such threats.
Singh stated, 'India has demonstrated its resolve during Operation Sindoor, showing that terrorist havens will no longer escape just punishment.' He stressed the importance of acknowledging state-sponsored terrorism as an attack on a nation's sovereignty.
He further remarked, 'There should be no tolerance for double standards, and the SCO must not hesitate to demand appropriate action against those who incite, shelter, and provide safe havens for terrorists.' The Defence Minister advocated for coordinated global efforts to combat terrorism, noting that radicalization and extremism pose significant challenges.
Singh pointed out that terrorism has become one of the most severe threats to the emerging global order. He noted, 'In this context, the SCO has emerged as an organization based on our shared values, condemning acts and ideologies that promote terrorism.'
Additionally, he addressed the current geopolitical turmoil, stating that the world is facing the reality of increasing unilateral policies and conflicts. Singh expressed concern over the alarming rate of casualties resulting from ongoing conflicts in recent years, urging those responsible for defense to reflect and take effective measures to address the situation.
