Rajnath Singh Chairs Third IGOM Meeting

On April 8, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the third meeting of the informal group of ministers (IGOM) to monitor the evolving situation in West Asia. The meeting focused on assessing measures to ensure the continuous availability of essential goods and to protect Indian citizens from the impacts of regional tensions.


 


In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh stated, "I chaired the third meeting of the group of ministers on West Asia. We reviewed the measures being taken in light of the changing circumstances in the region. The government is ensuring the availability of LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilizers for farmers, while facilitating the supply of essential goods across the country. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is taking extraordinary steps to safeguard our citizens from the effects of the conflict."


 


The second meeting of the group of ministers took place on April 3, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Singh further mentioned that the ministers were briefed on government measures related to the geopolitical situation and discussed further steps to mitigate any adverse effects arising from the conflict. He added that the IGOM was informed about the actions being taken by the government in response to the ongoing strife in West Asia, and they deliberated on the next steps to minimize any negative impacts from this conflict.


 


Additionally, Singh shared that he has participated in the self-enumeration process for the 2027 census, which has commenced with the listing of households and housing-related tasks. Emphasizing the shift towards digital data collection, he urged citizens to actively engage in this process. He stated, "I have participated in the self-enumeration process under the 2027 census. I encourage everyone to actively participate and complete the self-enumeration, which will help lay a strong foundation for a developed India."
