Key Meeting on NEET UG 2026 Exam Integrity
On Thursday, Union Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a significant meeting at his residence regarding the NEET UG 2026 exam paper leak issue. The discussion lasted for 40 minutes and included key figures such as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) Abhishek Singh, and senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office. According to sources, the primary focus of the meeting was to restore the credibility of the NEET exam among students and parents.
Strict Measures Against Malpractices
Officials also deliberated on implementing stringent actions against those who resort to unfair means during the examination. Previously, Dharmendra Pradhan accepted responsibility for errors in the CBSE's on-screen marking (OSM) evaluation process. He assured that corrective measures would be taken if any irregularities were found to be intentional. Pradhan emphasized the government's commitment to addressing complaints raised by students during the re-evaluation and verification of answer sheets.
Innovative Scanning Process
Pradhan noted that the CBSE has scanned approximately 400 million answer sheets using the OSM system for the first time, which he described as globally recognized and student-centric. He mentioned that the board is actively working to resolve technical and payment-related issues faced by students.
Cancellation and Rescheduling of NEET UG 2026 Exam
Following reports of the paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) canceled the NEET UG 2026 exam originally scheduled for May 3. The re-examination is set to take place on June 21, 2026. Officials stated that ensuring transparency and fairness in the process remains the government's top priority.
