Celebrating the Legacy of Great Leaders

On Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commemorated the contributions of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and educationist Madan Mohan Malviya to nation-building, referring to them as true politicians. This tribute took place during an event where he unveiled portraits of both leaders at the Delhi Assembly.

During the ceremony, the central minister also launched a coffee table book themed around 'Bharat Mata.' Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was present at the event.

Singh remarked that unveiling the portraits serves as a silent tribute to the words and deeds of Vajpayee and Malviya.

He urged the audience to view education as a means to advance national interests, echoing Malviya's sentiments, and to embrace politics as a form of public service, much like Vajpayee did.

The Defence Minister emphasized that both Malviya and Vajpayee were exemplary politicians. He noted that Vajpayee aimed to connect education with national consciousness in independent India. Singh highlighted Vajpayee's belief that greatness cannot stem from narrow-mindedness and that political differences should never lead to discord.

He stated, 'Vajpayee taught us to remain humble in power and prioritize national interests while in opposition. Even when criticizing others, he maintained dignity and avoided causing harm.'

Singh further mentioned that Vajpayee was a 'true successor' to Malviya's thoughts and actions. The event was attended by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Minister of Legislative Affairs Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, and other dignitaries.
