Rajnath Singh Criticizes TMC for Development Failures in West Bengal
Rajnath Singh's Strong Critique of TMC
On Wednesday, Defence Minister and BJP leader Rajnath Singh launched a fierce attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), asserting that the past fifteen years in West Bengal have been marked by destruction rather than development. Ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, Singh participated in a roadshow in South Dinajpur, which attracted a significant crowd, reflecting strong public support.
During his speech, Singh questioned whether the law and constitution should bend to the whims of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He emphasized that despite the passage of fifteen years, the state has witnessed devastation instead of progress, with politics reduced to vote bank strategies that distribute benefits based on religion.
Concerns Over Budget Allocation
Singh pointed out that only ₹900 crore has been allocated for development in North Bengal, while madrasas received a staggering ₹5,000 crore for their growth. This disparity has forced today's youth to struggle for opportunities. Previously, on April 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised concerns about alleged discrimination against North Bengal and criticized the state government's budget priorities.
Modi also claimed that the TMC government has failed to present a report card for its fifteen years in power. He accused the state administration of engaging in unethical practices instead of delivering tangible results, questioning what accountability they could possibly provide.
Allegations of Discrimination in Budgeting
The Prime Minister highlighted the alleged bias in budget allocations against North Bengal, asserting that nearly ₹6,000 crore was earmarked for madrasas while development in North Bengal was neglected.
