Rajnath Singh's Remarks on Assam's Cultural Richness

On Tuesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the Congress party for allegedly neglecting Assam, accusing them of treating the state unfairly. Speaking at an election rally in Tezpur, Assam, Singh expressed confidence in the victory of the BJP-led coalition in the upcoming state assembly elections. Addressing the gathering alongside NDA candidate and leader of the Assam Gana Parishad, Prithviraj Rabha, Singh praised Assam's cultural and natural wealth.

Singh highlighted that Assam is rich in both culture and nature, noting that the aroma of Assam tea is recognized not just in India but globally. He referred to Assam as a land of bravery, home to the legendary hero Lachit Borphukan. The valiant people of Assam have sacrificed everything for the nation. Observing this spirit, he expressed his firm belief that no force could prevent the formation of a BJP government here.

He emphasized the BJP's commitment to safeguarding Assam's culture and identity, stating that the party has vowed to ensure the preservation of these elements. Under the leadership of Himanta, a dual-engine government is functioning effectively in Assam, which has now carved out a unique identity within India. Singh criticized Congress for consistently neglecting Assam, claiming that the party's misgovernance has led discussions in the state to revolve around issues like terrorism, poverty, and unrest.

Singh also pointed out the significant changes in Assam's landscape, asserting that times have changed. Today, discussions around hunger or terrorism are rare; instead, the focus is on development, which he credited to the BJP's efforts. He mentioned that during Congress's rule, many border villages were labeled as 'backward villages,' but the BJP has elevated their status to 'model villages.' Prime Minister Modi has visited the Northeast 30 times in the past 12 years, a stark contrast to the limited visits during Congress's tenure.
